Last week on our local ABC news they announced a “contest” that NASA would be holding on Twitter on Friday.
NASA for the first time was having a tweet up at Kennedy Space Center in Florida to watch the launch in person. The first 100 people to apply got in and they took another 50 people as back ups. I was one of the lucky 100 to make it in!
The two-day event will provide NASA Twitter followers with the opportunity to take a tour of NASA's Kennedy Space Center, view the space shuttle launch and speak with shuttle technicians, engineers, astronauts and managers. The Tweetup will include a "meet and greet" session to allow participants to mingle with fellow Tweeps and the staff behind the tweets on @NASA.
It will take place on November 15-16th. If you would like to follow along on twitter look for the hashtag #nasatweetup up and @jane4girls.
If you have any questions you would like us to ask please leave a comment and I will pass along the questions while there.

That is so incredibly awesome!Do you close to Florida? A once in a lifetime experience. Do you get to bring your kids? I found your blog about two weeks ago, and love it! I've just gotten into couponing this past month or so, and love it! We also have a garden, grape vines, and a small fruit orchard. We have five kids and one income, so it really, really helps! You take it to a whole new level though. I would love to know how you get so many gift cards. Does it take a long time?
We live outside of Houston, another space center city of all places, so I will be flying there to Florida. You had to be over 18 to apply, so my oldest did and she might get to go if others back out or can't go. It would be fun to have her along on this with me.
As for the gift cards, I get them from either places like swagbucks or mypoints, by doing rebates, or from store promotions. Last year around this time I got a Kroger gift card just for taking a new home tour and test driving a car. Always look for things like that.
Congrats
How cool is that!!!! Have a blast :)
Yeah, I guess when you don't work for a living and try to get everything for nothing, you would have plenty of time to send one of the first 100 tweets. Good for you, freeloader. I love how society rewards those who know how to work the system.
wow anon, jealous much?
FYI, I have TWO FULL TIME JOBS. Just because I am savvy does not make me a freeloader.
Just because you didn't get in on something don't be a hater, it is very unbecoming.
Have a fab time in FL! You deserve it!
WTG!!! What a wonderful opportunity. Have fun!
Blessings,
Kath
That is so cool. I have been there twice and toured once having gotten to take a bus out and see the actual shuttle.
Have a great time, it is a cool experience
Cool. I didn't know you worked two jobs. That makes a difference. Good for you, I mean it. :)
You are going to have a blast! We took our girls twice in the past several years. It is amazing how big everything is.BTW- I saved around $20 at the grocery store as a result of the coupon deals that you've posted this week! Love your blog...Enjoy your trip!!
My husband is also one of the lucky 100 to attend, @ericmblog. It sounds like the launch viewing will actually be from the press area (well, one of the press areas) - only 3 miles from the launch pad.
So it was only for 18 and up? Glad I didn't enter to try for one of the spots the moment I heard about it on the news. I personally would NOT be able to leave my little one at home while seeing something so spectacular, and historical since the space shuttle program will end soon.
Wow. Please don't tell me this is all expenses paid? Then I'll be really jealous.
yes it is 18 and up only and each ticket is for one guest only too, no extras, so can't even bring my 18 year old.
no, I have to pay my way there, hotel (super cool aunt and uncle house) and car (same super cool people)
The pass is basically a VIP tour of the space center, meet and greet with important people and watching the launch up super close.
